Proverbs 15:1 NIV

There are certainly a lot of memorable verses in Proverbs. A lot of them are known widely throughout the our population who do not realize they are Proverbs from scripture. This is certainly one of those. There is something visceral about yelling in response to a comment or action we disagree with, especially a really ignorant one. However we have all watched the tensions increase right along with the volume and intensity of a response. I have seen nothing short of a miracle occur when someone responds gently and kindly to an abrasive person. It is a miracle to see the person able to respond that way and the result in the other person can seem miraculous as well. I live by the belief that no adult should ever yell at another adult unless they are warning them about danger or shouting an encouragement. Even in work if someone is not performing to satisfaction we can correct them, discuss what is going on with them or fire them. None require yelling. We have a record of Jesus for three years dealing with incredibly frustrating human beings. No matter how often He shared truth they continually missed it. Yet He did not yell. He could have and they, as well as we, would have deserved it. Today practice the kind patience of your savior. #BeTheEdge
