Proverbs 16:9 NIV

Unlike critters, we have the innate ability to plan a course and follow it to its natural conclusion. We even have the ability to adjust to changing or unexpected circumstances. Animals operate strictly by instinct and glandular responses. We can do that, too many people do, but we should not. Sorry to those of you who believe that your cat really loves you. The challenge for us as humans is that we can get to a place where we really believe our future is in our hands alone. At that point we replace the role of our creator God with our own efforts and desires. That will ultimately leave us empty and broken. The trick there is to allow that broken, emptiness to lead us back to the only One who can fill the emptiness and repair the brokenness. Too often we are susceptible to hanging on pridefully to our desperation believing we can turn it around. The alternative is to recognize that God has a plan, a beautiful plan, of reconciliation and redemption just waiting to rescue our story. The power and simplicity of His plan can, at times, cause the prideful to miss it. As Christ followers we are still prone to begin each days journey believing we are in control. Don’t fall for that destructive lie. Today, turn over your entire journey to the One who has established your steps. #BeTheEdge
