Proverbs 21:11 NIV

It can be easy, especially these days, to believe you are average, not particularly special. The world elevates a few superstars in a variety of arenas. Sports and Hollywood are the obvious places we see this. However there are many places where we can see this happen. Academia is an obvious place we see this as well. I’m amazed at the students who make over a 4.0 GPA. When I was a student my personal goal and struggle was that 2.0 line, the Mendoza line for baseball fans. Solomon gives those of us who aren’t always quick on the uptake spiritually the plan on how to learn the lessons of the spirituality 4.0 follower. First he tells us to watch and learn from others mistakes. The consequences of sin are never good. In most cases they are hideous. When we see what happens to those who sin freely we can see and realize it’s not worth it. Not rocket science but definitely a brilliant way to learn. In the same way watching those people in contrast to saints living well is an invaluable lesson and one not to miss. I have a friend who loves reading biographies as well as autobiographies of the early saints. He learns of their disciplines, decision making strategies and faith. Then he imitates them. He struggled in school like me but he lives brilliantly. So, secondly we learn by watching the results of Godly living and incorporate what we see in our walk. I have been a disciple of Jesus for 47 years. I’ve been a disciple of some of His followers for almost the same length of time. Paul once said to imitate him as he imitated Christ. Can you say that? Do you have a Paul in your journey you can do that with? Today put His word first but then be sure to take advantage of every story God blesses your journey with that is a reflection of Him. By the way, He considers you special so go #BeTheEdge.
