Proverbs 22:3 NIV

Dr. Travis Bradberry wrote a column on LinkedIn in which he talked about the most common regrets in life.  In this Proverb Solomon reminds us that we are all capable of looking back and realizing that we were aware of the danger in moving forward with a decision that we will regret. He tells us that we operate prudently when, recognizing the evident outcome of continuing in a foolish direction, we run to safety in the opposite direction. Joseph demonstrated this prudence when Potiphar’s wife pursued him. Dr. Bradberrys list includes some life long choices that can leave us paying a lifetime of penalties. His list includes things like we wish we hadn’t made decisions based on what other people think. Also on his list is that we may wish we had stayed in touch with our friends. He mentions prioritizing family and friends over work at times. He also talks about a choice to express our feelings and to choose to be happy. I’m not sure about his whole list but I am sure our ability to see what is ahead and choose wisely is critical to living a God honoring life. Stephen Covey reminds us that we are, “not a product of our circumstances. We are a product of our decisions”. Today use the wisdom God offers and turn from danger and toward Him. #BeTheEdge
