Proverbs 22:6 GNB

I was recently reading an article about life truths. A couple struck me as particularly powerful. “Toxic, nasty people are projecting their inner misery.” “We all want love and acceptance.” “Money doesn’t automatically bring happiness.”  “True fulfillment comes from thinking beyond yourself.” These are a few that I believe can have great value to us in our journey. The Bible is filled with this kind of truth for training our children. As parents, we struggled with the level of fantasy vs. reality we should share with our kids during Christmas. I think the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc. don’t really grab the deep level of trust in a child the way Santa, elves and reindeer do. Maybe it’s the fact that many kids see Santa as a real man – a safe, kind, grandfather type. Whatever it is, Santa seems to have a much stronger and warmer grip on the imagination of children. Seldom do we hear conversations about when a person realized there was no Tooth Fairy or Easter Bunny, but it is rather common at times to hear, “How old were you when you realized there wasn’t a real Santa Claus?” I don’t have a strong conviction about that for anyone else. My own has actually evolved a bit over the years. Reading the origin story of Saint Nicholas has been helpful, as well. Look for ways to speak truth about God and the life He has blessed us with. Ignore the lies being perpetrated on us daily. Today, hear and share God’s clear truth. It will change you and the world you walk in. #BeTheEdge
