Proverbs 24:11 NIV

I try to stay non political in these devotions. That continues today. However, I, like most of humanity, have been deeply grieved in my spirit by the images of collapsed buildings in Fl., flooding in Tennessee, North Carolina, and through out the North East, the state of things in Afghanistan and the suffering from the earthquake in Haiti. And that’s just the current biggies. There are so many situations where people are suffering, through no fault of their own, around the globe these days. Throw in a pandemic, sex trafficking and random violence and who wants to turn on the news anymore. I love that as a nation we have had a reputation for leading the world in addressing the issues of suffering in many places. I think our Judeo-Christian heritage has had a lot to do with that. I also believe we need to be diligent in holding onto that. Solomon is challenging Gods followers in this verse. Specifically His chosen people. Today the challenge is to the Church. Right now the challenge is to you. Where at this moment can you make a difference? Who do you know that may be heading down a road of destruction, even death? Today allow God to tenderize your heart to those lives at risk and then let Him direct you in how to “do for the one what you’d like to do for the many”. #BeTheEdge
