Proverbs 2:5 NIV

I used to feel that pursuing wisdom was like building a house or for that matter building anything. You would get different pieces, pull them together and begin to create a foundation of wisdom and then you would build your life wisely with different pieces on that foundation. Probably not the best analogy but I hope it gives you a sense of what my history of pursuing wisdom looked like. I have since come to realize what Solomon shows us in this chapter, that as we pursue wisdom, as we hunt for it like silver and gold, the result is a very healthy reverence for God or what the Bible would call a fear of God. When we achieve that then pieces of wisdom: choices, insights, perspectives, flow from it. There is no doubt the more time we spend in God’s word and therefore the more we get to know him and grow in our reverence for Him, the more wisely we live. It is impossible to reflect godly wisdom without reflecting God himself. As we live a life of reverence for God we reflect the wisdom that comes with that life. The watching world sees and recognized a wisdom beyond who we could possibly be. Today pursue your understanding of the fear of the Lord and watch the wisdom grow. #BeTheEdge
