Proverbs 27:20 NIV

Death, destruction and human eyes, all share a common characteristic. According to Solomon, they always want for more. The real news for us might be that our eyes are included in this list. We know that until the return of Christ the planet and even the universe will always see death and destruction. It has been said that 1 out of 1 will eventually die. Apparently the two oldest living creatures on earth are “the oldest living land animal at 187-years-old, is an Aldabra giant tortoise named Jonathan. And if you’re looking for something warm blooded, the oldest known mammal is the bowhead whale, with one individual estimated to be 211 years old.” In terms of eternity that’s not very old. And as for destruction, the second law of thermodynamics assures us that nothing is improving, everything is wearing out. The eyes are how we see everything in the world and unless our desires are governed by the Spirit of God we long for what we see that we do not have or we do not have what we would deem to be enough and so we want more. Thankfully God offers the solution to all three of these. Death will not own us, destruction will not conquer us and desire will not control us if we live in Christ and His power. Today recognize the tug and destiny of our lost planet and find victory over them in Jesus. #BeTheEdge
