A quick look at the covers of “People” magazine from the 70’s and 80’s will give a pretty good look at who we in the US considered were the beautiful people of the day. No doubt between God’s artistry and some nice airbrush artists they put some physically attractive people on the front to sell magazines. A short search of those people today reveals a lot of sad stories about how short-lived physical beauty can be. In the pursuit of fame, fortune and the next dollar a lot of these people believed the hype about how beautiful and wonderful they were. In chasing the People Magazine definition of beauty, they burned out and fell apart. Some, in the midst of their demise, turned to God and allowed Him to rewrite their story in beautiful ways. Others are no longer with us or living lives of sad, empty lostness. Today is a good day to review what you are pursuing to bring value in your story, and if you discover God is not driving your journey, reconnect with Him.
“Your adornment must not be merely external…but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.” 1 Peter 3:3-4 NASB
