I love the months with 31 days because they give me the opportunity to reflect on the “Proverbs 31 Woman.” I know many women who embody her character. A number of them hold leadership roles in The Edge ministry, and we are a much more impactful ministry because of them. The writer of this chapter has spent the previous 30 chapters and 884 verses speaking directly to the men of his time—particularly to young men he feels responsible to prepare for God-honoring lives. By God’s wisdom, all 31 chapters and 915 verses are applicable not just to His followers, but to all of humanity seeking to live wisely. Of course, there is even greater value for those of us who live with the goal of serving and representing Him, but wisdom, at its simplest, is wise for everyone. In the broadest context, this verse reminds us that our outward appearance—and even our personality—can be deceptive and unsustainable. What truly matters is living in awe and reverence of the Author and Sustainer of life, both temporal and eternal. I was tempted to end that sentence with “temporal,” but the truth is, it all matters. Period. In this life and for all eternity, who God is to us is the only thing that truly matters. Today, invest your life in the eternal. #BeTheEdge
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18 NIV
