Proverbs 4:18 NIV

If you have been around me much over the years you have probably heard me refer to someone as “walking in the light they’ve been given.” It’s not to excuse immaturity or behavior but it does reflect the truth we see in this chapter.  “The way of the righteous is like a dawn that just keeps getting brighter as they go along…” Conversely, it is also true that “the wicked are like people continually stumbling into an even deeper darkness.” When someone first starts walking in the faith they can hardly be expected to exhibit the wisdom of Billy Graham or even….you. Paul writes that these followers are only capable of drinking milk while those growing in Christ should get beyond that and soon be eating the more challenging meat of spiritual truths. This is valuable when discerning where another follower is in their faith journey. Notice I did not say judging. If anything it should curb judgment of others since we typically do not know their back story or lack of exposure to solid teaching. The light you have been given could very well be brighter then someone else’s. So many things prepare your heart for growth and exposure provides varying levels of Kingdom input. Let God decide where and how He chooses to lead another further into His glorious light. Today, let His light shine brighter in you as it creates a hunger in others to share in it. #BeTheEdge
