Proverbs 5:6 NIV

Cinco de Mayo is certainly a very meaningful holiday to many people. I know it is absolutely all about fajitas, chips, salsa and margaritas right? A fun activity is to ask your friends what cinco de Mayo is a celebration of.  Just to help you look like the smartest person in the room here you go.  “In 1862, during the time of the Battle of Puebla in Mexico, the United States was engaged in its own Civil War. … Cinco de Mayo was first celebrated in the United States in Southern California in 1863 as a show of solidarity with Mexico against French rule.” Now you know. Celebrating a holiday we know nothing about is similar to what Solomon is saying here. Living a life without understanding who we really are and why we are here is not only illogical it is dangerous. One of Solomons points in this chapter is how close we are to eternity. Literally one breath is all that separates our today from our entry into eternity. The decisions of today can have a profound effect on that destination. Celebrating a holiday we know nothing about can be a bit silly and still fun. Living a life barreling toward eternity with out the knowledge of where we are going is foolish. Today evaluate where you are going and reaffirm you commitment to your Heavenly Father and His purpose for your journey. #BeTheEdge
