Proverbs 6:6 NASB

I love how God uses all of His creation to teach us – in this instance He uses the ant. Quite frankly, I’m not usually very impressed with ants. I find them very annoying. However, as Tripp observes, “Christ sends us to school to the birds of the air and lilies of the field to learn dependence upon divine providence (Mt 6:25-29), to the stork, crane, and swallow to be taught to take the seasons of grace, and not to let slip the opportunities that God putteth into our hands (Jer. 8:7).” God doesn’t waste a thing in His creation, and everything is designed by Him with a purpose. Even the Duck Billed Platypus. Consider that the platypus is a carnivore, and it plays the role of a carnivore in an ecosystem. It keeps the population of species in lower levels of the food chain in check. You see, everything has a purpose. Solomon uses the ant to remind us that hard work and diligence are part of God’s plan for us and that they are often the difference between success and failure. Laziness is not encouraged anywhere in scripture. Relaxation, rest, and recreation are all encouraged, but never laziness. God designed us for work, hard work, and He rewards it. Today, confirm your love and desire to please God by being diligent in your work. #BeTheEdge
