Proverbs 7:19 NIV

“Because I said so.” these four words may be the most common used parental phrase. It may come early or it may come later in a discussion between parent and child but when it comes it basically means discussion over. That doesn’t mean it’s really over, most kids will continue, but for all intents and purposes it is essentially case closed. One of sins tactics, like the seductress in this Parable, is to ‘cunningly answer every objection’. We often know the reason we should not move forward in following our sinful desire. Conversely, the evil one can conjure up just as many excuses for why it is not a big deal to plow forward into sin. In this story she says he won’t get caught. That’s a favorite. If you are certain or can be convinced that you will not be discovered, it is much easier to think a sin is no big deal. Here is the reality. Regardless of whether you will get caught or not, and remember the biblical promise that your sin will find you out, it should suffice that God says no. Like the parent who only wants the best for us God’s “no” is never self serving. It is always to protect His loved ones. Today hear God’s loving “no” and simply obey. #BeTheEdge
