In the last chapter—and in multiple other places throughout the book of Proverbs—we saw that sin, often portrayed as a prostitute, waits in dark places to ambush the willing. Here, Solomon lets us know that God’s truth and wisdom are not hiding in some remote, out-of-the-way place, hoping we can find them. In a noisy world, there are many loud and competing voices vying for our attention. Jesus tells us that in the midst of a noisy pasture full of bleating sheep, His followers can discern His voice above all others—and that’s critical. One of the keys to making this truth a reality in our lives is walking in such deep intimacy with Him that He doesn’t need to shout for us to hear Him. Solomon makes the point that God is not hidden from the world. In Hebrews, we read that His creation basically shouts of His existence. There are clearly no excuses for missing Him. The darkness is loud, but both science and the Spirit remind us that it takes very little light to dispel a lot of darkness. Darkness never overcomes light, but light always overcomes darkness. Today, see, hear, and walk in His light. #BeTheEdge
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Jesus
