In these few verses, Solomon tells us of the effort Wisdom has made to get us to come and receive what she offers. It appears that it is being offered only to the ‘simple’ and senseless. Part of the reason he specifies this particular group of people is that the wise are… well, wise. They have already connected with God and His wisdom. They don’t need a special invitation or enticing offers. They have already wisely chosen His truth and brilliance as the way they want to live, and learning from Him is their heart’s desire. This makes it clear that there is no one that God does not want to engage with, and He is willing to do whatever He can to make His concern and compassion known to all. Peter writes that God is not willing that anyone should perish, but His great desire is for everyone of His creation to find Him and join His redeemed family. Contrary to some twisted doctrines these days, no one was created by God to go to hell. Some will but that will be their own choosing. The heart of love God has for all of us is seen most powerfully in the invitation to come to Him, given by His only Son prior to giving His life to make the way.
