Proverbs 9:5 NIV

This chapter is seen as the first division of the book of proverbs. It summarizes key points from the first 8 chapters. One way it does this is by comparing the differences between wisdom and folly again. Another cool comparison in this chapter is between Wisdoms banquet and The Great Feast of the New Testament. You might want to take a moment and read the picture given in Matt 22 and Luke 14 of The Great Supper which is clearly connected to this passage. Also in this chapter it is notable that Wisdom stands on the highest hilltop inviting all of mankind to her4 celebration while folly slinks off into a dark corner, whispering to whoever she can entice. Jesus invites all of us to join His family and be a part of The Great Feast. Satan whispers, enticing us to dark places of shame. There is also a powerful connection between Wisdom’s offer of “food and drink” and Jesus’s invitation to take and eat in remembrance of Him. There are not only clear distinctions given between wisdom and folly, intentionally in this chapter there is also a great connection between Jesus and Wisdom. As we grow in our understanding of wisdom we gain in our breadth of insight into Jesus. Today choose wisdom over folly and let Jesus live through your story. #BeTheEdge
