Proverbs 12:1 AMP

“Whoever loves instruction and discipline loves knowledge, But he who hates reproof and correction is stupid.”

The references about hating reproof in this verse literally “refers to wicked thoughts, wicked ideas or malicious thinking. This is one who is scheming to do something evil, with the emphasis on the planning or the intent (heart attitude) the person in his efforts to harm another. Jehovah condemns such a man for his wicked thoughts, wicked ideas or malicious thinking. He has been found guilty by God of having an evil disposition, an evil heart attitude that is in opposition to God’s moral standards.” I used this quote from Christian Publishing House Blog because when I read it I felt Solomons intent in this verse become almost palpably, like I could practically touch it. God feels very strongly about our willingness to be instructed and corrected. It is not that he enjoys disciplining. Although, instruction done well and correctly responded to can be a rewarding experience. He takes it this seriously because of the depth of his compassion and love for us. He longs for us to listen and learn and grow and receive his blessings. Today, seriously consider what you know of his desire for your life and learn about what you don’t know. And when he corrects you, receive it as the loving correction it is. #BeTheEdge
