“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
This has been rightly referred to as the motto or theme verse of Proverbs. It is important as we begin this month’s journey through each chapter of Proverbs to reflect on the fact that seeing God through much deserved awe, wonder, and reverence is critical as we try to discern His wise guidance for our story. These are not just good words of advice; we would read Einstein or Churchill for that. When Solomon reflects God’s wisdom and instruction, it serves us and those around us well to consider their source and His impact on our life. These Proverbs are at once both simple and profound. They are written to be pondered and then applied to our story. Today, commit to read, reflect on, and respect the power of God’s wise counsel throughout the Bible.
