Influencing culture for the Kingdom

Proverbs 4:13 AMP

“Take hold of instruction; [actively seek it, grip it firmly and] do not let go. Guard her, for she is your life.” ‬‬

I have been heartbroken by the stories coming out about the flooding following the path of hurricane Ida. People suddenly overwhelmed by flood waters. Too many not surviving. One man heard the shouted instruction to, “Hold on for dear life!” Then his friend was gone. In an equally passionate and pleading cry Solomon is saying the same thing. He knew that evil would try and slip in between your heart and its hold on the things of God at every opportunity. He also knew that if evil could pry your heart from its singularity on God and His heart you would be doomed. I’m not talking about losing your salvation. Thankfully that’s not dependent on our grip. But, just a little distraction, a momentary glance, away from our intense focus on The Almighty can be all it takes to begin the subtle process of our grip loosening and our safety slipping away. We have all known someone who had a firm grip on God and His Kingdom only to run into them years later and find they are no longer walking in the faith. Often their story can be traced to a gradual shift in their focus from the things of God to the deceptions of this world. God’s grip on us insures our eternity. Our grip on Him insures fruitfulness. We are not saved by grabbing Him but we live a life of meaning, purpose, peace and joy by holding firmly to Him and His truth. We know satan lives to kill, steal and destroy. Jesus offers life and that life overflowing. Today hold on for dear life. #BeTheEdge

“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” Jesus
