Proverbs 4:7 NIV

“The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”

Time to go behind the curtain. When Solomon challenges us to be wise by getting wisdom and understanding it sounds a bit redundant. “The beginning of wisdom is get wisdom.” Almost sounds a bit juvenile. On the contrary it is actually a profound recognition that the only wisdom, as we see repeated throughout scripture, is God Himself. There is no other wisdom or source of wisdom that matters apart from God. So in his admonition to get wisdom he is telling us it all starts though a right relationship with the God of all wisdom. Of course wisdom is the foundation of understanding. We can never have a proper understanding of the things that truly matter without real wisdom as our foundation. As we always find with Solomon, everything begins and ends with God. Wisdom for us finds its source in a right relationship with Him though a right relationship with Jesus. Know Jesus and open the door, the one and only door to God. Now I’m sounding a bit redundant. Here is the final point. As Solomon encourages us to pursue wisdom he is simply telling us to pursue God which leads us first to Jesus. Today pursue God through Jesus and wisdom will be the result. #BeTheEdge

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬
