Proverbs 9:3 NIV

“She has sent out her servants, and she calls from the highest point of the city.”

Jesus tells the story in Matthew 22 of a man who sent his servants out to make sure the invited guests showed up for his feast. But they chose not to, and things got pretty ugly for them. That passage actually carries a very deep message that I can’t cover in just this short devotion. For our purposes this morning, the story goes on to say that the man eventually sends his servants to bring in anyone they can find off the streets to join the feast. Solomon, in Proverbs, is talking about the Lord sending His servants to invite people—those who might seem unworthy—to join Him at His feast. He uses wisdom to represent God. Jesus clearly instructs us to invite all people to His wedding feast in heaven. We are not to discriminate between rich or poor, Black or white, ugly or pretty, short or tall, or anything else. We are to go into the world and invite those who don’t know Him to meet Him. It’s a great reminder that every person we encounter today is a supernatural and eternal being. They will live forever—and we can have an influence on where that eternity is spent, first by representing Jesus and then by clearly communicating the path to Him. Today, invite. #BeTheEdge
