“Righteousness guards the person of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.”
I have a friend running for a local office. The other day, while I was posting the daily devotion from Proverbs, I saw an attack on his leadership in a social media post. I read a few comments and watched as a full-blown battle over this person’s leadership shifted to his character. It was disappointing, and I must admit it made me mad. I have a firm rule that I only use social media to share the daily devotions from The Edge or other encouraging things, like quotes from C.S. Lewis. I left the internet, but it continued to trouble me. Later, I went back to the post and saw that a well-respected person had taken a stand for him, and the responses immediately began to change to reflect what a fine leader and person my friend is. It was good to see his true self begin to be revealed. Social media is an awful thing for the most part. But the point here is that my friend never responded; yet, it became impossible to hide who he really was. His right living revealed his integrity. I don’t recommend social media for much of anything. The most influential and godly leaders I know are not on it at all. But the point here is that even in that polluted environment, a person’s character was revealed. Today, walk in righteousness and integrity. #BeTheEdge
