An article in Harvard Health listed a number of causes of gray hair. A couple of the main ones, besides genetics, are stress—no one didn’t see that coming—and poor nutrition. A well-lived life is often reflected in the gray hair on one’s head. As Solomon refers to in this verse, it often shows that a person has faced what life sends their way with godly wisdom. Grace and strength are often the results of facing challenges bravely. Everyone faces hard issues in life. It’s part of living in a fallen world. Not all gray hair indicates a life of wise choices. As the article says, much of gray hair is attributed to the stresses of life. The secret is in surviving those stresses with God’s help. There is a very important truth in this verse about honoring the older members of the body of Christ. We never pity them or dismiss them. We honor them and look to them for wise counsel. There is a reason the Bible calls them elders and not youngers! Today, grow in wisdom and respect God’s elder saints. #BeTheEdge
