Proverbs‬ ‭4:5‬ ‭NASB

As a parent, I’ve said things like, “didn’t I tell you…?” or “How many times do you have to be told…?”. Not the best form of communication but certainly spoken out of legitimate frustration with my child, usually as they were a teenager, for forgetting something they were asked to do or not do. It’s not enough to get some knowledge or instruction. It has to be understood, retained and loved. Otherwise, it’s rather useless. If when we share something we feel is important, we expect it to be remembered and acted upon, how much more vital is it that we retain what God says and live by it. When I hear something I want to remember I text it to my iPad. One day I accidentally stumbled upon the spot in my iPad where I’ve sent those texts. Wow, great stuff that I’d totally forgotten. In other words, useless information. Today, let’s realize the value of God’s Word, but more importantly let’s review them, act on them, and commit them to heart and mind.

“Your Word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against You.” Psalms‬ ‭119:11‬ ‭NASB
