I didn’t exactly choose this verse; it chose me. Well, sort of. Twenty-one years ago today, my sweet bride took her last breath on earth following an awful battle with cancer and breathed her next breath with resurrected lungs in the presence of her Savior. During that season, as a family, 1 Peter 5:10 was our theme verse. We clung to it passionately, wanting to believe that God would heal her earthly body—her “earth suit.” God made our human bodies to allow us to function on this planet. Take it a couple of miles off the planet, and it will die. He has a brand new, unblemished, eternal body waiting for us. I believe in God’s healing power. I believe He often answers those prayers. However, the longer I’m here, the more I subscribe to something my former pastor used to say: “It’s amazing how hard we work to hang on to something we were never intended to keep in the first place.” Can I get an Amen? I miss Jennifer every day. However, I know without a doubt that she was a committed follower of Jesus, and she has fought what Scripture calls the final battle and is set free. Yes, there is a message for the wicked in this verse, but today’s challenge is for the child of the King. Today, walk with Jesus and be set free. #BeTheEdge
