Proverbs 11:7 NIV

Every election cycle, I see many people placing their hope for a better day and future in the outcome. In the people who receive their votes. They believe the campaign promises. They’re convinced that if their candidate wins, their lives will improve. But it seldom works out that way. As a Political Science major, I learned early on that the ship of government moves slowly—if at all—and when it does, it rarely fulfills the golden promises people bought into. On both sides. Solomon reminds us that this truth goes beyond politics; it’s about putting our hope in mortal, flawed, and broken people. And that describes even the best of them on their best day. The only place where hope is guaranteed to deliver is in God. Hope placed in Him never fails. That’s why hope doesn’t exist in heaven—it’s meant for life on this planet, where we must cling to God’s promises. That’s also why faith doesn’t continue into eternity. At the moment we enter eternity our hope is fulfilled and our faith completed. When Paul says there are many gifts, yet the most enduring are faith, hope, and love, he emphasizes that the greatest of these is love. One reason is that, as we enter eternity, faith and hope will pass away, but love remains forever. God is described as love. Thankfully, we can place our hope in Him. Today, let Him be your sole focus of hope. #BeTheEdge

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬
