Herod was evil. Some secular historians try to paint the picture that he was a builder of Judea. Others point to his outreach to the Jews but the most famous story of him is his wiping out all boys two years old and under because he feared a child king had been born. As a matter of fact, Christians and Jews alike tend to remember Herod as a tyrant, a murderer and often a traitor. Solomon watched and heard stories of this type of ruler being run out of power. Today, we can be tempted to believe the tyrannical and dishonest boss or leader wins, but history and Scripture show and tell us that’s not true. It can certainly appear so at times, but a longer view of history makes it clear that the servant leader is not only remembered and revered, they tend to be the most effective. Herod ended up hated and despised. Jesus, the ultimate compassionate servant leader changed the planet. Today, serve, love, and truly lead. #BeTheEdge
