Faithref calls this verse a crucial tip. I should say so. Fear of the Lord, living with a healthy respect that starts with a sense of who God is sets us on the path to wise living. A lack of that sets us up for failure and ultimately destruction. Barnes has an even better grasp on this passage, “This is no arbitrary sentence. The fault was all along their own. The fruit of their own ways is death.” That elevates this truth to more than a simple tip. It is the difference between life and death. Here and now, but more importantly in eternity. There is worldly wisdom and godly wisdom. All of Proverbs shows the contrast between the two. As we journey chapter by chapter through the book again this month we will see that as much as we may want to believe there is a blended option between worldly and Godly, there is not. As Joshua said, we all have to choose who we will serve, one of this worlds gods, who are no god at all, or The Lord. Today choose wisely. #BeTheEdge
