Proverbs 13:12 NIV

Many years after this event, I learned that the first time I met David—who would ultimately become my son-in-law—was a bit traumatic for him. As it should be, right, dads? I was in ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease), or kidney failure, as most of us know it. I was known to fall asleep at just about any time, especially when I parked my car. One day, I had parked in front of our house and, before exiting the car, I fell asleep. David was walking up to the house, saw me in the car, and as he got closer, he thought I was dead. Yep—gone. And since the car was still running, he assumed he was the first to find out. He was not excited about going up to the house and, as my daughter answered the door, having to tell her he thought he had found her dad dead. Thankfully—especially for him—she knew about and had witnessed my tendency to doze off when parked. A couple of months later, I received a double organ transplant that saved and greatly extended my life. My wife and I had prayed for my diabetes to be healed for decades. When we first began praying, there was no such thing as a pancreas transplant. Fifteen years ago today, I received this relatively new procedure. And after 40 years of living with that crippling disease, I was completely healed. Solomon knew what we felt. My family watched the health transformation. Prayers have no expiration date. Today, keep praying—and don’t put time limits on God’s plans to bring you your tree of life. And please consider being a donor. #BeTheEdge
