Even though this was written about 950 years before Jesus roamed the Middle East, there is an adjacent story Jesus tells. Solomon’s point is that wise people build and, with God’s wisdom, care for and establish their home—and, even more broadly, their life, family, career, and all areas of their story. Jesus touches on the same reality in Matthew 7 when He zeros in on the foundation of the house built on His words and the ones in danger because they are not. As a builder for many years, both with and even after His stepdad, The word we translate as carpenter in the New Testament is literally translated Builder (tekton). He certainly spoke from experience. We are all builders in one way or another. Some of you are in the construction world. Others are building a business, a team, a family, or a legacy. If we are living out a life calling, we are in building mode. How we do that requires God’s wisdom and a foundation of salvation and intimate following of Jesus. Today, build well. #BeTheEdge
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”Matthew 7:24 NIV
