Proverbs 14:22 NIV

A sign of being a Christ follower is the diminishing desire to make sinful or evil plans. It doesn’t mean we are not tempted at times. If someone has ever done you wrong, thoughts of revenge can drift into evil plans to perpetrate on the ones who did you wrong. No finger pointing here. Thankfully it has not happened often, probably because of who I choose to be around, but I have had an occasion or two to find that thought process working its way into my spirit. This is when the committed role of an accountability partner is powerful. They get angry with you. They are disgusted by the ill treatment you went though. But, they wisely bring you back to the wisdom of this truth. I recently looked back at some of the people who have done evil to me or my family. As I was looking back God convicted me of the fact that I never practiced the second part of this verse. Very quietly I planned something kind to do, mostly anonymously, for them. Why anonymously? Because these acts were for me and God’s ongoing work in my heart. Their heart was His business. As a result of these actions I have found a peace and rest from the turmoil in my heart, mind and spirit. This kept me from being dragged to dark places from my past. God’s love and faithfulness replaced the hurt and anger. Today who needs an anonymous kindness from you? #BeTheEdge
