We are adding staff. I’ve resisted it with everything in me for a while. The cost always has to be counted, but in reality, that is not why I’ve fought it. After 40 years of leading large to medium-sized staffs, I have enjoyed the lack of drama and challenges that come with them. I loved and enjoyed my teams for years. But they are work. I’m excited about the person we are looking to have join us. Solomon reminds us (especially me) that it is easy to keep things in order and tidy when it’s only you working on a project. My house is amazingly quiet and clean since my children moved into their own families over the years. But I miss every minute of the chaos. We weren’t built to walk this journey alone. I know a middle-aged woman who lost her husband and has withdrawn into a life hidden away in her condo, all by herself. They have children, but they live many states away. She has an immaculate home and a tidy, comfortable life. The sadness and loneliness she experiences are the result of the fact that we were designed to interact with messy mortals in all areas of life. The Edge is adding staff because we have reached the limit of our ministry impact with our current team. There will be some messy growth moments, and viewed from eternity, they will be glorious. Today, embrace the mess. #BeTheEdge
