I use to work with a team of about 12 staff. We had one staff that was known to “misrepresent” things often. So often that when we added staff the new staff were warned that it usually took 3 responses before you would get the accurate answer you were looking for. They would jokingly say come join us in search of an honest answer. It was funny, sort of. I know it got old. As we work systematically through Proverbs we have landed on two verses in a row that don’t joke about truth telling. An honest witness, also translated faithful, is one who has been tested. Showing up and presenting yourself as faithful and honest doesn’t matter without a life that reflects that life style over the years. No one, with any sense, invests money in someone without doing due diligence. We should expect the same scrutiny of the backstory of our life. The image Solomon gives us of the false witness is a person who breathes out lies. It is a habit that is a basic part of who they are. I’ve know this person and so have you. Thankfully the truth teller also breathes out truthfulness as a natural part of who they are. I know them too. They are who I gravitate towards. They are the people I want in my life and in my journey. Today choose truth, always. #BeTheEdge
