Proverbs 14:6 NASB

Ok, I’m fully aware this one might get me in trouble. I live in a college town. During a couple decades working with teenagers, I watched many, too many, leave home with a pretty solid faith intact only to return four to six years later having completely discarded it. They went to liberal institutions and were overwhelmed by arrogant professors who pounded away with the message that weak, ignorant, uneducated people believed in a “fantasy God and the fairytale of a resurrection.” The scoffers Solomon speaks of here are those looking for wisdom anywhere other than through the Source of true wisdom. As a result, they end up with a level of knowledge that leaves them empty and drifting far from The Truth. They have fallen victim to the cynical and superficial in their desire for acceptance by an elitist crowd. Jesus made a promise that if we genuinely “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” The disconnect is that there is not a genuine looking. Too much of what passes for wisdom is the use of large words and phrases spoken with an air of authority and accusation. The hearer either acquiesces or gets ridiculed. God promises wisdom to the genuine seeker. Today, search out God’s truth as a committed follower and receive it in humility and grace. #BeTheEdge

“But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 NASB
