I’ve often wondered how many times I do things simply out of repetition. In other words, we do the same thing, the same way, just because we’ve always done it that way—whatever “it” is. In this verse, one of Solomon’s challenges is to pause and wisely consider both the why and the how. Simon Sinek wrote a profound book called Start With Why. Like Solomon’s challenge, Sinek urges wise leaders to reflect on the purpose behind their organizations. His TED Talk on the subject has been viewed by over 56 million people. He later followed it up with Find Your Why, which took the concept and made it more personal. As followers of God, we should know our why—because God has called us to it. It’s wise to regularly pause, evaluate what we’re doing, run it through the filter of God’s love and calling, affirm it through Scripture and solid counsel, and then move forward. Once we’ve done that, we should proceed with wisdom—and be ready to do it again soon. I’m currently in this very process as I discern what resources should and shouldn’t be part of The Edge as we move forward. We’ve added a lot, and I’m wrestling with how to do it all with excellence. Thankfully, Godly counsel is helping. Today, take a moment to wisely ponder God’s call for you. #BeTheEdge
