Proverbs 15:11 NIV

I write this one with damp eyes. The word for death is actually Hades, the place where all dead go. Destruction is the word Abaddon, the lowest hell, corresponding to the “abyss”, the place of evil spirits and the lost. It is the deepest, darkest place of eternal suffering imaginable. I know people destined to be there and so do you. My life has been spent sharing the Gospel and praying that no one I know would spend an instant there. Solomon reminds us that God sees everyone even to the darkest corner of the spirit realm. We don’t talk about hell. Rob Bell got rich and famous declaring there is no hell. Satans most useful lies are there is no Satan and there is no hell. I wish with everything in me there was no hell. But, scripture and Jesus make it clear that no matter how much we wish it didn’t exist it does and we need to reckon with that truth. There is great confusion about God on this subject. I wish I had more room to deal with it here. If you want to talk about it let me know. The reference in this passage is Solomon letting us know that the reach of God’s sight and insight is infinite and He certainly sees deep into our soul. Even deeper than we do. Today live as though eternity awaits all of us and don’t wait to share with those you encounter. #BeTheEdge
