Proverbs 15:7 NIV

Yesterdays Proverb dealt with not allowing fools to speak their bad counsel into your life. Today Solomon repeats that truth after telling us the better choice. Mr Winston Smith T and Mr Yetta Samford have moved on to their heavenly homes. Before they did whenever I found myself in their presence I would block out everything else and try to focus on what they were saying. There are still those people in my life. Their track records and integrity lended themselves to a high degree of trust and placed incredible value on every word they shared. Their humor and their serious discourse all came with valuable insight. One amazing truth about all of them is they had a deep, abiding relationship with Jesus that spanned decades. It was apparent that that relationship influenced all of their thoughts, words and actions. There are many classic writings by other men and women with that depth of character available to us today. C. S. Lewis, Oswald Chambers, G. K. Chesterton, A. W. Tozer and many others pass along wise knowledge that is readily available. I confess I have allowed Dick Wolf, John Grisham and James Patterson to have much more of my attention then the classic writers and teachers of God’s wise truths. Those three write crime TV shows and books. Yeah, not an impressive choice by me. A few years ago I realized this imbalance and began alternating my reading and watching. Today consider what and who you are allowing to speak the most into your heart and mind and where necessary, change and find your Winston’s and Yetta’s. #BeTheEdge
