Proverbs 15:8 NIV

“I’ll be praying for you”. That is a phrase I hear and have heard often in my years on this planet. You probably have as well. As I’ve aged and seen the power of prayer manifest in my life and the lives of those around me the seriousness of those words has grown in my understanding. It use to be easy to say that and then forget about it. It just felt like the right thing to say and it seemed encouraging. Over time I realized it was a lie and a very dangerous one at that. Leaving a person with the false belief that they were walking into whatever situation they faced with a sense of prayer cover was not only deceitful it was dangerous. As I grew I would immediately whisper a prayer for the person I committed to pray for and therefore believe I honored my commitment and helped bring the power of the Kingdom into their story. There was certainly some value and truth to that. Now if I commit to pray I either do it right then with the person or make them a regular part of my daily prayer routine or both. I have never considered myself a “prayer warrior” but these days when I find myself praying for myself or others it always seems to be in the midst of a battle. Prayer is an unimaginable gift. To converse whenever and wherever about whatever with the King of all eternity is an honor beyond comprehension. Today grab that privilege with hands clenched in prayer. #BeTheEdge

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians‬ ‭6:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬
