Proverbs 16:3 NIV

When my grandkids come to me, look around to make sure we are out of earshot of others (especially their parents) and ask me to do something or let them have something my answer is almost always, “I don’t see why not.” Which I am wise enough to quickly follow with, “as long as it’s ok with your parents.”  Bolstered in their purpose they immediately go in search of a parent to check with. I’m always intrigued by their approach knowing that they will need to clear their request with their parent. Ultimately my answer is irrelevant. I think they are initially motivated by fear. A fear that their parents will say no or not now. They do not want to hear that. I believe that often when we don’t want to consult God with our plans it is because of the same fear. We can also be foolish enough to believe our plans will work out even though we have not consulted God. One of the gifts of age is realizing over time that only when God is consulted and in control of the plans do they have any chance of success. Here is the big reveal: if God has not been consulted our plans are dangerous to pursue anyway and if He has then we will not only find success by His definition we will also find joy and peace in the journey. Here is the thing, you are operating in consultation with someone, either yourself, others or God. As you read that sentence which option seems obviously the most logical. Today submit all your plans to God and watch them flourish in whatever way He chooses for that to look like. #BeTheEdge
