Proverbs 16:33 NIV

Ever had a chance encounter? How about a luck of the draw experience? Solomon is letting us know that there is no such thing. Luck is a pagan custom. I have often said the older I become the more of a soverigntist I become. I know that’s not a word but it seems to work. The sovereignty of God is a very powerful truth, and comforting. The fact that nothing ever surprises Him or catches Him off guard gives us a powerful ally in walking through what, at times, can be a very treacherous world. Nothing occurs in our life by chance. Think about that for a moment. I’m not taking a Calvinist or Free Will side this morning. Both sides acknowledge the sovereign nature of God. In Solomon’s day they would cast lots to divide inheritance. What a relational mess that could create today. They also used it to determine the outcome of other major decisions. We watched the soldiers do it to divide Jesus’s garment and the disciples did it to determine who would take Judas place as one of the Apostles. Thankfully we have prayer and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes we listen to the still small voice whisper God’s will to us. At the center of hearing our Heavenly Father’s His word. Today learn to listen and walk with confidence He cares about everything in your life. #BeTheEdge
