Proverbs 17:4 NIV

Paid off guards. The story goes between corrupt religious leaders and dark hearted politicians who all make for a deep evil palace intrigue. Easter is sunshine, empty tombs, bright lights and angel declarations. But throughout that first week leading up to and even through the first Easter there was a lot of dark going on behind the scenes. It hit its high point as our savior hung by spikes dead on a rough, wooden cross. Evil had resources, 30 pieces of silver and money to pay guards to lie. Yes paying guards to lie. When Jesus rose and the tomb was discovered empty, theologians generally agree there were between 30 and 50 guards to pay to be quiet. This and so much more speaks to what was heard, believed and protected by the liars bent on stopping Jesus, even in death. Here comes the hallelujah. No matter what evil was done, lies were told, resources put towards the effort, God was not going to be stopped. All the forces of Satan, darkness and hell were thrown at killing and keeping one man dead and buried. But they could not compare to the powers of heaven. Praise God they still don’t. If you find the day dark, the forces aligned against you and seeming unbeatable circumstances surrounding you, you are ripe for a resurrected savior to intervene. There are no powers of hell that can defeat a Spirit filled follower of God. It does not matter what lies are whispered in the dark, in your mind, because as you hold on a resurrection is coming. Today don’t believe the lie and live by the truth of the empty tomb and the resurrected savior. #BeTheEdge
