Proverbs 18:10 NASB

A baby in a manger – one of the greatest contradictions of the universe. The Bible tells us that the universe was created by and for Jesus, the Son, the second person of the Trinity, the Godhead. Yet, thousands of years later He comes as a helpless infant to a teenage mom. I don’t know when you last were in the immediate company of a newborn within moments of its birth, but I assure you that the image of “A Strong Tower” is not the first thing that comes to mind. Over the years I have seen a lot of subtle head shakes as I tell truth seekers that the God of the universe, the Creator and Sustainer of life, came that first Christmas in the conditions of His choosing. They find that hard to believe. What rational person doesn’t. If we buy the story as routine, then I question if we really grasp the significance. He could have ridden in out of the sky on a white unicorn or even used a fighter jet. Well, He was God so of course He could have. Instead, He came in the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies and quietly began a journey that radically shook the planet. Today, ponder the name of the Child who is our Strong Tower, Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us.
