Proverbs 18:2 NIV

In studying to prepare for today’s thought I continued to be brought to an observation that I’ve had for a few years. Earlier this week I saw a social media post that touched on this truth as well. A young women was reflecting on counsel she received from a mentor that has impacted her walk with Jesus ever since. I certainly see it in her influence. So much so that I once reached out to her to offer a position in our ministry. She wisely said “no thanks”. Her post said, “If you cannot open His Word and find the answer, don’t give your opinion and don’t guess what Scripture says or guess what the character of GOD is. Have the courage to say “I don’t know. I need to study the Scriptures about this, I need to pray, and I need to ask for help from older, wiser women in my life.” Then go, and study and search. Then come back to the person and follow up. Be bold enough to talk about Him and to have the hard conversations, but make sure you know what His Word says about it.” There is no shortage of new twists on Gods Truth these days. If you have to twist it to get to His Truth you can believe it’s not. His Word is the first and final authority on Truth. Don’t allow someone’s intentional or unintentional manipulation of Gods Truth to lead you astray.  Today take her mentors advice and follow only the Living Gods plan. #BeTheEdge
