This is one of the places that reminds us just how connected our inner world is with our outer world. The depth behind every word we mutter is a mysterious thing. One of the reasons I believe in biblical counselors is because all of us have situations from our past, way back to our youngest days, that influence much of who we are and how we communicate. That can be both good and bad. When a person is raised in a loving, caring, godly environment, it can shape their personality accordingly. Their speech, even in the lightest moments, can and often does reflect that. When they come from a background of being harassed, bullied, or even just ignored, their speech can reveal that as well. What is in us always finds a way out, either gently or violently. No one at five years old wanted to be a spouse abuser or a school shooter. They wanted to be a fireman, an astronaut, Spider-Man, or some other positive figure. If we are immersed in an environment of godly wisdom, it is like a rushing river that surrounds us and blesses us in ways we cannot avoid. If not, it eats away at our spirit, and without the intervention of our Savior and His Holy Spirit, we learn to hurt others from our hurt.
