I love learning new things, especially concepts, business strategies, and deeper truths about God and His Kingdom. Before anyone gets the wrong idea, until college I was an awful student. I didn’t like school. I wasn’t built to sit at a desk and be quiet and still. I just spent a week with a lifelong friend who is an accomplished writer, filmmaker, pastor, and counselor. It is always a floodgate of wisdom and one of my favorite things when I’m with him. It was a dose of what Solomon describes in this verse as God’s wisdom entering my heart, and it was very pleasant to my soul. We didn’t sleep much, ate food that was certainly not on a menu created by our doctors, and watched and critiqued movies every evening. We created an exciting curriculum for The Edge ministry. But mostly, we wrestled with God’s truth and how it should impact our daily walk with Him. We discussed very little religion. We did not talk about other people. We focused on God and His love and desire for the remainder of our story. Where do you go to cut through religion, tradition, and formality to look Jesus in the face and listen? Those things do not need to be bad, but when we allow them to replace relationship, they become harmful. Today, pursue God’s wisdom and find peace and rest for your soul. #BeTheEdge
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15 NIV
