Proverbs 21:3 NIV

At first blush doing “what is right and just” would seem to be a sacrifice. To fully grasp what Solomon is saying here we need to understand that some people deceive themselves with a conceited belief that, if they offer sacrifice, that will “excuse them from doing justice, and earn them an excuse or pass for their unrighteousness; and this makes their way seem right in their mind. Doing what is right and just means our life pattern is vastly different then our broken nature has directed us to live”. We all know people who seem angry and harsh but make a show of doing a good thing, usually a donation of some sort, to try and counteract what most know about them. A donation, made with some fanfare, to The Salvatiin Army is so much easier then living with the struggling in our community and walking through life with a poor, desperate soul. God makes it very clear that the example of Jesus is one of both living well and sacrificing much. Our call is to follow His lead. We are not to see how little we can do to look good but how much like Jesus we can be to truly bless others. Today let sacrifice be just a reflection of your living rightly and justly in the style of Jesus. #BeTheEdge

“To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” Mark‬ ‭12:33‬ ‭NIV‬‬
