Proverbs 22:5 NASB

Asbestos, lead paint, hazardous chemicals, secondhand smoke; what do all these have in common? They are all dangers we are or can be exposed to. That’s just a standard old list. How about COVID-19, riots, stolen identity, and an endless list of newer threats to our life and safety? The challenges we face not of our own making can be daunting. Why would we possibly want to add to them with some of our own willful creation? Solomon is talking about things we invite into our life that put up walls to stop us or grab at our feet to trip us. We truly have a very clear choice of facing dangers out to undermine and destroy us and those we care about, or live right, stand strong, and protect our story and those we love. The poet Robert Frost referred to it as ‘two roads (that) diverge in the middle of the woods.” He was sadly right in describing the one we should take as the one less traveled by. We will not be applauded or celebrated in this life for that decision. But we will celebrate it with those who matter to us. Today, live rightly, guard those you value, and serve the audience of One. #BeTheEdge
