Proverbs 22:9 NASB

I just finished reading a list of 15 of the worst dictators in the last century in preparation for writing a devotion. Then I read this verse and in preparing a thought to go with it I read an article about 21 of the most generous people of this past century.  All turned out to be people of faith. Most began life in poverty but learned at a young age the value and blessing of helping the less fortunate. Two, James Cash Penney (founder of JC Penney’s) and Robert G. LeTourneau, gave away 90% of what they earned and lived on 10%. Still others on the list gave away 50% and 70% of their income. They discovered that you can’t out give God. They fed the hungry, educated the poor and disenfranchised, housed the homeless, sometimes in their own homes. What an inspiring list. Today let’s find a way to honor God’s blessings in our lives by generously blessing others.

“…Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these…, even the least of them, you did it to Me.” Jesus
