Proverbs 26:20 NIV

A friend recently left his long term job. Almost immediately I began to hear why…from other people. When I had a chance to get with him over lunch he shared that he was stunned and deeply disappointed about what he heard being said about why he changed. Mishandling money, poor staff leadership, lack of ability to fulfil his responsibilitys were commen comments as well as moral failing. He knew I knew his boss and that we had discussed his leaving. His boss made it clear that they wanted him to stay and offered a large raise to convince him to stay.  He recognized that ultimately his friend was ready for a new challenge and followed an opportunity he had always desired. Now here is the stunning part of the story. Even after hearing the true story people chose to continue to spread the false narrative. It is just a fact that human nature, as opposed to God’s nature, enjoys the dirt, the gossip, the negative story. A great practice to beat that desire is when you hear something and especially when tempted to repeat anything that is less than uplifting, stay quiet and pray for the person. Today serve God and others by being the place gossip and bad reports come to die. #BeTheEdge
